About Melanie Raabe
I am a child of the eighties and wanted to be a stunt woman as a little girl, which various scars and two chipped front teeth testify to this day. I was born in Jena and grew up in a village of 400 people in Thuringia, where you could climb chestnuts, eat cherries from trees, play football and build booths. I spent my youth with books, theater and dance in a small town in North Rhine-Westphalia and then studied media studies and literature in Bochum. Then I moved to Cologne to work as a journalist (during the day, officially) and to write books (secretly, at night).
My debut novel is called »The Trap« and was published in 2015 by btb. My second work followed in 2016, "The Truth", and in the summer of 2018 came "The Shadow". My fourth novel, "The Forests" came out in 2019. In the meantime I am also experimenting with other forms. My fiction podcast »The Abyss« was released in June 2019 and was number 1 in the podcast charts. I also run the podcast »Raabe & Kampf« with my friend, the designer, maker and YouTuber Laura Kampf , in which we devote weekly episodes to everything that has to do with creativity. This podcast also inspired me to write my first non-fiction book: "Creativity - How it makes us braver, happier and stronger" (release: November 2nd, 2020). I also act as a reading ambassador for the Reading Foundation for reading promotion.
But first and foremost, I'm a book author. That's why I'm so happy that my novels are now published in over 20 countries and that the film industry has discovered my subjects. - Exciting life!
